Tesla started delivery of the Model S in South Korea just last month and already has a six month waiting list just to drive the cars. The cars didnt qualify for the government ev incentive because they take longer than 10-hours to charge (big batteties). Whelp, starting in September, Tesla cars will enjoy a revised EV incentive which takes the equivalent of $23,000 off the sticker prices. This is in a major automotive market that LOVES techy cars, ADORES premium cars, and was only able to FANTASIZE about the type of performance these cars throw down.
All this on the eve of the Model 3 coming their way and it will end up starting under $20,000! Expect a variety of EVs to hit the market with the highest amount aggression. All while Hyundai is struggling to find batteries for its Ioniq EV which is proving to sell at double the volume they expected and before HMG can get the Kona EV and Niro EV to market and Genesis figuring out exactly what type of alternative powertrains it wants to focus on. Tough luck for Hyundai, great news for Tesla and all the Model 3 fighters on the way.

Going to be a tough uphill battle.

The commodity market is pretty closed off but the premium market (and the long range EV market at that) are wide open since there isn’t anything domestic to compete in it, plus you have government support that is making the cars the best value in the entire country. There are simply too many wins for convention to continue.

I’m home for a wedding and spent time with my parents today explaining TSLA to my dad as an investment (yes) and my mother asked me all about cannabis stocks as she sees what’s about to happen there, especially in Canada: it’s a jackpot waiting to pay out is my opinion, and hers.
Kinda fun to armchair quarterback but with some skin in the game. I like investing. It’s gambling but with a huge edge if you’re looking ahead correctly.
Still — super weird talking to my mom about weed though. She never talked to me about it as a teenage kid with purple hair. Feels extra odd to talk about it now especially without any Just Say No message. It’s more “which of this shit you think will take off, dog?” which is disorienting.
Or it might have been the drugs kicking in. Who knows.

I wonder if SK Tesla drivers are like Seattle Tesla drivers - kind of a cross between BMW and Prius drivers.
I tried to think of an all-caps word to throw in, but couldn’t find one :)

If you like stocks you should look into cryptocurrency. No joke made 300% in 5 days, but of course I’m dumb and didn’t sell and now 2 months later my profit is down to about 150%. Market is stupidly volatile.

Yeah that’s one I hear enthusiasm about but see no real model for it. For example, people buy crypto currency to buy illegal things. That I get. However it’s backed by good intentions more than something solid and it could be outlawed effectively somewhat trivially really.
Weed is a drug. It’s been voted legal and is about to go on sale. The sellers are currently worth jack. Who knows which will become the Anheuser Busch of the weed world, but one of them will and all are cheap as hell.
If I’m right it’ll be big. If I’m wrong it’s not my life savings by any means and seems a solid bet in a weird world.

You’ve got me wanting to look into some cannibus stocks now... for me crypto has literally just been for fun. Tossed the money i was gonna use for an exhaust into the market, when I make enough for an exhaust, coilovers, and an intercooler I’ll sell and be done with it.
I should really get back into investing.

If recommend lithium mining as well as literally everything involving electric cars, laptops, etc, depends on it and it’s always a shortage.
Of course I’m just making my strategy up as I go but who isn’t?

I regret not investing a spare $1000 dollars I had once in Bitcoin. In the time span I had planned on selling it it would have turned into $50k and now over $120k.
